After the two previous forums in Barcelona 2016 and Lisbon 2017, the III MedThink 5+5 Forum was held at the El Aurassi Hotel in Algiers last 25-27 June 2018 under the title “Human Development as a Driver of Cooperation in the 5+5 Dialogue”.
The third edition of the Forum, co-organised by the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed) and the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) in collaboration with the Algerian National Institute of Strategic Global Studies (NISGS), brought together more than fifty experts and representatives of think tanks and diplomatic institutions from the Member States of the 5+5 Dialogue.
The aim of this Forum was to open a collective reflection on the growing interregional flows of people and resources, whose management can only be shared. Thus, the thematic corpus of the 3rd MedThink 5+5 Forum was divided into four large blocks depending on the nature of these movements, their geographic location and their link with major regional development constraints, with special attention to youths.
This multidisciplinary debate reflected the different and shared views and a provided a general outlook of the Western Mediterranean, its challenges and its future. Some of the presentations made by the experts during the conference can be found here (click on the name and institution to open):
